Antalya and new work
Returning from the Netherlands in 2006, Çağlayan Yıldız settled in Antalya. Completed that year, his thesis Standard Guitar Tuning: A Historical Mistake? documented his research into all-fourths tuning. He had completed his master’s in composition; playing guitar and bass, composing and working with different ensembles continued. Antalya became a base while his musical relationships with the Netherlands and İstanbul remained active. Settling there did not confine his work to one city.
He contributed as a composer to Medcezir — Ebb and Flow with Axyz Ensemble. Released by Karnatic Lab Records in 2009, the album was another recording made with musicians in the Netherlands.
In 2010 he began working on IDM under the name Groove Guru’s Klan. GGK, a name that would appear again in later Kaş concerts, began in this period.
He continued to bring composition and improvisation, instruments and electronics into the same field of work. His role could change between accompanying a song, improvising freely and working with electronics. Differences between musical genres matter to him, but he does not want them to limit whom he plays with.
